"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
- Proverbs 3:5-6
As I was sitting at work I heard the song come on “ don’t worry about a thing cause every little thing is gonna be alright.” My thoughts when immediately to my dad. It is funny how you never hear a song until you really need it. He sent this song to us after they found spots on his pancreas. What felt like it may be alright suddenly came crashing to the ground when we heard the words cancer. Pancreatic cancer that has spread to the liver. My immediate thoughts were how can everything be alright. How can I not worry? How can I think positive after hearing this news? From August to December we were not sure if he was going to make it to the new year. We spent as much time as we could with him. We prayed for a miracle but deep down we knew that this was going to take our dad. It is such a hard thing to not know what to pray for. When you see your loved one fighting for their life. He was not ready to go yet. He was not giving up. We prayed and we trusted in God’s plan. God showed us what He could do and He started to shrink the tumors. Our prayers then changed to praise and for Him to keep showing us this miracle. My dad was almost back to his old, happy, working self for a few months. It was a glorious thing to watch. My dad’s life did come to an end on April 22nd 2018. He fought the good fight and his faith did not waiver. Yes, there were times where you could tell he was scared. I even saw worry on his face. Almost like he didn’t feel worthy enough to meet Jesus yet. We aren’t worthy but I am so thankful Jesus is. I knew though as he crossed over to meet Jesus that worry was gone. We trusted in the Lords plan and He carried us through. He got us through that year and He continues to get us through. When something happens in your life that you may not have answers to, trust in the one who created you. It will hurt but it will hurt less walking with Him hand in hand.
